DUBAI MIRACLE is on course to tackle the UAE 2000 Guineas on February 18, trainer David Simcock has confirmed. The Consolidator colt has already shown good form in Listed company, finishing second in the Stonehenge Stakes at Salisbury last summer. Now connections are looking for him to step up again with the 1m Group 3 at Meydan on his agenda. Simcock said: “I consider Dubai Miracle to be a little bit of a dark horse. “He was training very well before he left for Dubai and he will enjoy the all-weather surface. “Being realistic, I wouldn’t necessarily say that he would be very competitive in a Group 3 over here, but he has everything to suit in Dubai and he will go straight to the UAE Guineas.” Simcock has fingers crossed that the Dubai International Racing Carnival will see four-year-old Ahla Wasahl’s stock increase further. She is already a Listed winner – as well as being placed in a Group 2 – and the aim is now to try and find an opening for her in Group company in Dubai. He said: “There are very few older fillies running out there, so it might be that there is a window of opportunity for her. “We are hoping to run her in the Cape Verdi (a Group Three over a mile on February 5) and the Balanchine (Group Three, nine furlongs, February 25).” Simcock added: “After shipping to Dubai earlier this month, she took a little while to settle in – just with ‘grubbing up’. But she has got into a routine now and we are very happy with her.” |
