INTO Wain got off the mark at only the second time of asking when landing a mile maiden at Wolverhampton yesterday evening.
The son of Eddington, sent off the 10/11 favourite, had finished an encouraging second on his debut last month and did not need to improve much to take this contest. Jockey Nicky Mackay settled Into Wain just off the leaders in what was only a moderately run race. He got to work over a furlong from the finish and his mount responded gamely to lead inside the last 200 yards, running on well to score by half a length. Ahmad Al Shaikh’s three-year old shouldn’t be punished too badly by the handicapper for this win and could be the type to progress in handicap company. |
