Trade Storm heads big race trio at Meydan

IT is set to be a big weekend for the Trillium Place team with Trade Storm, Sheikhzayedroad and Battle Of Marengo all in action at Meydan on Saturday.

The Qatar Racing-owned Trade Storm will contest the Group 1 Jebel Hatta over nine furlongs.

The son of Trade Fair was second in the Zabeel Mile last Saturday and David has been pleased with him since that run.

He said: “I have been delighted with Trade Storm since his last run. He ran very well but was a little unlucky in running.

“Once again he will need luck, especially with 14 runners, but he is in excellent form and we are very hopeful.”

The team will be launch a two-pronged attack on the Group 2 City Of Gold with both Sheikhzayedroad and Battle of Marengo among the declarations.

David said of the pair: “Sheikhzayedroad has run two very good races in Dubai so far. This is by far his toughest test yet but we feel he is ready for the step up.

“He is another who needs luck in running but I am expecting a bold showing from him.

“Battle of Marengo is a new venture for us. He ran no race on the tapeta but I expect him to be much more at home back on turf. We are very much on a retrieval mission with him and the draw, 16 of 16, is not ideal.

“This is his first start for us and he is a lovely horse for the long term.”

David has also declared three Noble Citizen, Whispering Warrior and Postscript in the Lincoln Trial at Wovlverhampton also on Saturday.

He added: “All three are in good form but Whispering Warrior would probably have the best chance.”
