Musidora glory for Madame Chiang

MADAME Chiang made it two from two with an emphatic success in the Group 3 Musidora Stakes at York this afternoon.

Kirsten Rausing’s daughter of Archipenko won her only start at Yarmouth last October and stepped up on that to win this Oaks trial in style.

The field were taken along at a decent tempo by Shama and jockey Kieren Fallon settled Madame Chiang into a good rhythm at the rear of the field.

Fallon produced Madame Chiang between runners with a furlong to run. She struck the front and was pushed out under hands and heels to win by a length and a quarter.

David said: “She's so laid back and switched off. She races like she works at home

She's done really well physically from two to three as she was too weak to finish a gallop off as a juvenile.

“She surprised us first time out to be honest. She does take some stoking up but Kieren kept her entertained, didn't rush her and gradually brought her into the race. There was plenty left in the tank at the end of the day.

“The ground is very important to her and I wouldn't want to run her on firmer at the moment. If it turned up soft at Epsom, then it's possible we could run otherwise the French Oaks is much more likely.”
