Weekend double for Trillium Place

12 October 2015

TRAINER David Simcock and his Trillium Place team were in double form over the weekend as Under Siege and Carnachy found the winner's enclosure.

Under Siege sprung something of a surprise when winning the six-furlong apprentices' handicap at Chelmsford on Saturday.
Sophie Killoran, claiming 7lb, gave the three-year-old gelding a very enterprising ride and it paid off.
The 12/1 shot was taken to the front from the gates by Killoran, before Gold Beau asserted approaching the halfway point.
But Under Siege, owned by Happy Valley Breeding and Racing, was never far away and resumed control with a furlong to go.
The Simcock charge never looked like being headed in the closing stages and ran out an emphatic winner by three and three-quarter lengths. It was Under Siege's second career victory.
Another wide-margin winner for Trillium Place arrived 24 hours later as Carnachy fair bolted up in a mile and a half handicap at Goodwood.
The Mastercraftsman filly progressed from her Newbury maiden winner last time out with a dominant display for jockey Jim Crowley.
She travelled on the heels of the pace before asserting in confident style through the final quarter mile.
Indeed, the 5/1 shot had the race all wrapped up long before the line, going onto score by four lengths.
She has yet to finish outside the first two in her four career starts and remains a filly on the upgrade for her owners St Albans Bloodstock.
