Miss Understood on the upgrade

18 December 2015

MISS Understood defied a lay-off of over a year to land a mile and a quarter fillies' handicap at Chelmsford yesterday.

The daughter of Excellent Art took a mile median auction maiden at Kempton back in November, 2014.

But there were few signs of ring-rustiness as she duly obliged on her handicap bow at odds of 6/1 in the hands of jockey Martin Lane.
The David Simcock-trained filly was never far away and duly served it up to the favourite Ickymasho in a thrilling duel late on.
Miss Understood, who was launched on the inner inside the quarter mile, was all heart as she laid down a concerted challenge.
The Trillium Place horse's efforts deservedly saw her hit the front late on and she stayed on for victory by a neck for owner Mrs Julia Annable.
In doing so, Miss Understood proved she is a game improver for connections, who were rewarded for their patience.
