Derby victory for No Heretic

27 August 2012

IT might not be the first Saturday in June, but No Heretic claimed a Derby success when taking the Amateur’s equivalent over Epsom’s famous mile and a half course. The son of Galileo, in the hands of Phil Connington, ran out an easy winner at odds of 4/1. Connington anchored No Heretic at the rear of the field and he settled into a nice rhythm despite the lack of early pace. He still had seven lengths to make up on the leaders rounding the bend but he picked up strongly down the centre of the track, eating up the ground. He joined the leader, King’s Troop, with two furlongs to run and ran on to win well by three and a half lengths.
