More Group glory for Sheikhzayedroad

04 March 2016

EVERGREEN Sheikhzayedroad recorded the third Group/Grade victory of his fine career when landing the Nad Al Sheba Trophy last night at Meydan.

Trainer David Simcock's charge was an emphatic scorer in the 2810 Group 3 turf race, which should tee him up nicely for his main desert target - World Cup night’s 3200m Group 2 Dubai Gold Cup (Saturday, March 26).
The seven-year-old's ninth career win was his second at Meydan and came in the hands of jockey Martin Harley.
Sheikhzayedroad travelled in mid-division before delivering a winning run that saw him hit the front a furlong and a half from home.
He wasn't stopping, either, at the line which bodes well for the longer test of the Dubai Gold Cup.
After this three and three-quarter length triumph, his Trillium Place trainer said: "He is a real favourite in the yard - I am delighted for the horse.
"We have always thought he would be a nice stayer one day and to have a horse like this to take us to Dubai World Cup night with a live chance is brilliant."
