Red Cardinal victorious

26 April 2016

RED Cardinal (nearside above) restored Trillium Place to the winner's enclosure with a narrow success at Bath this afternoon.

The four-year-old Montjeu gelding followed up two second-place efforts with a deserved maiden victory at the third attempt.
Trainer David Simcock's charge was a 5/2 shot for the extended 11-furlong contest and travelled for much of it in mid-division.
With a quarter of a mile to go, jockey Jamie Spencer got to serious work and Red Cardinal responded to lead approaching the furlong marker.
Mawaany threw down a late challenge but the Trillium Place representative showed good resolve to hold on for a neck triumph.
