Gleaming Girl victorious

30 August 2016

GLEAMING Girl returned to the winner's circle with a game display in a fillies' handicap at Newcastle yesterday.

It was a thoroughly deserved success for the daughter of Arabian Gleam, who racked up a trio of second-place finishes in the spring.
Indeed, this was a first win since December 2014 and came in the hands of apprentice rider Sophie Killoran.
Gleaming Girl was given an accomplished hold-up ride by the 7lb claimer who produced her mount in the final quarter mile of the seven-furlong contest.
The 7/1 chance led with a furlong left to travel and maintained her focus well through the closing stages to score by a length and a half.
The win maintained the hot streak of Trillium Place and trainer David Simcock.
The horses are running so well as showcased by six wins and seven seconds since Rubensian struck on August 19. Three of those seconds were by a short head and one by a nose, too!
