Across-the-card-double as Turf finishes

07 November 2016

THE curtain came down on the Turf season on Saturday with Trillium Place marking the occasion by notching an across-the-card double.
Carnachy put her best foot forward to take a fillies' Listed contest at Doncaster over a mile and a quarter.
And on Bonfire Night, Curbyourenthusiasm ensured sparks were flying at Chelmsford City with success in a mile-and-six furlong handicap.
Jockey Jamie Spencer was aboard both of trainer David Simcock's winners.
Carnachy's victory surprised the bookies as the daughter of Mastercraftsman came from the back to lead with a furlong to go before staying on well to land a 14/1 triumph by a length.
She enjoyed an ease in grade to win for the second time in Listed company after facing several stiff assignments since the first of her stakes successes back in April at Goodwood.
Curbyourenthusiasm was another back to winning ways - his previous victory having been at the 2015 St Leger Festival at Doncaster.
Things haven't quite gone his way since finishing second in the Group 2 Yorkshire Cup at York in May.
But the five-year-old gave an accomplished display to edge a Class 2 handicap by half a length.
