Ascot Day at Newcastle

29 July 2017

ASCOT DAY has scored his third career win by taking the six furlong class four handicap at Newcastle this afternoon under Trillium Place apprentice George Buckell.
The three-year-old gelding, by Kheleyf (USA) out of My Lucky Liz (IRE), broke well from the gate and was settled quickly by Buckell, preferring to let others make the pace.
From two furlongs out the pair commenced their challenge and were pressuring the leaders by the one furlong marker, going on to lead inside the final furlong and holding on well to win by a head at the line.
Ascot Day was scoring his first success since being gelded earlier this year and is trained by David Simcock for owner Ahmed Jaber.
