Edwyn Ralph too strong at Southwell

23 March 2013

EDWYN ran out a ready winner of a 1m4f handicap at Southwell this afternoon. The son of Sir Percy was sent off the 6/4 second favourite behind the Mark Johnston-trained Royal Skies. With only three runners, it was always going to be a tactical affair and Joe Fanning was allowed an easy lead up front. Hayley Turner, aboard Edwyn Ralph, tracked the leader and was in the perfect position to strike up the straight. He took a while to overcome Royal Skies but once in front he powered clear to win by three lengths.
