Gambolling Den lands maiden

16 February 2013

GAMBOLLING Den opened his account at the second time of asking when winning a maiden at Lingfield on Saturday afternoon. The son of Indian Haven was fifth on his debut at the same track and showed improvement to come out on top in a tight finish. Andrea Atezni settled the 16/1 shot in the mid-field before switching to the inside to make his run. He surged through a gap next to the rail, hitting the front inside the final furlong and holding off both Lady Guinevere and stablemate India’s Song by a head and a neck respectively. Atzeni said: “I didn´t think he could win second time out because he was so green on debut. He has learnt a lot and will improve again.”
