Trade causes a ‘storm’ in Dubai

TRADE Storm roared to an impressive success at the Dubai Racing Carnival at Meydan this afternoon. A week after Ottoman Empire won for Trillium Place, it was the turn of five-year-old Trade Storm who stepped up markedly on his Dubai debut last month to take a 9f handicap. He was slowly away from the stalls but Jamie Spencer didn’t panic and settled him at the rear of the field. The pace up front was frantic which suited those who raced at the rear and Spencer switched Trade Storm to the outside to make his run. Once in the clear Trade Storm showed a devastating turn of foot to sweep by all his rivals, hitting the front before being eased down to win by over three lengths. Spencer said: “He was extremely impressive today. The plan was to sit mid-division but he was slow away. They went so fast up front that they were always going to stop. He has a good turn of foot off a strong pace like that.”
