Team Simcock – success home and away

04 February 2020

TRAINER David Simcock has enjoyed an excellent start to 2020 with nine winners in the month of January.
Rangali Island and Nigel Nott have both struck twice for the stable, who recorded eight domestic victories in the opening month of the year.

David’s small team at the Dubai World Cup Carnival has also been showing up well with Universal Order striking in a Listed Handicap.

“It has been a good month as regards winners,” said David.  “We’ve won with some average horses, but we’ve also won with a couple of nice horses...a mixed bag from claimers to maiden wins to nice handicaps. They’re winning and that’s great.

“All these horses are serving a purpose. Basically, what we’re looking for are horses that are good enough to carry on into May and June.

“If we feel they’re not going to progress then, the likelihood is they’ll go to the May sale at Newmarket.”

David has outlined in the past how his stable is essentially a 12-month-a-year operation and envisages nothing different in 2020. And one thing that January has already confirmed is that - as usual - Trillium Place and Revida Place will be sending out plenty (more) winners as the season unfolds.

ps - stopthepress...February is underway with a winner as well! Well done Inevitable Outcome, successful in a six-furlong handicap at Kempton this evening!
