Ottoman rules in Dubai

07 February 2013

OTTOMAN Empire was given a cool ride by Harry Bentley to take the opening ten-furlong handicap at Meydan this afternoon. The son of Pivotal broke from stall one and Bentley was able to adopt the perfect position on the rail behind the leader. Ottoman Empire was full of running on turning for home and Bentley asked him to quicken. He stole a few lengths on his rivals and, although Universal and Arthur’s Tale closed late on, Ottoman Empire was too strong, winning by a length and a half. Ottoman Empire was sent off a well-backed 9/2 chance following his decent fifth fifth at the carnival two weeks ago.
