Epsom triumph for Vainglory

31 May 2013

VAINGLORY gained the biggest win of his career when taking a valuable mile handicap at Epsom this afternoon.

Now aged nine and a real stable favourite, Vainglory had finished placed in this race three times in the past but made no mistake this time, winning convincingly under Martin Lane.

The race was run to suit with the leaders setting a searching gallop up front.

Martin settled Vainglory at the rear of the field and he travelled wide into the straight, ensuring a trouble-free passage into the race.

As the leaders began to tire, Vainglory was just getting in full stride and he ran on strongly down the center of the track to win by half a length.

David said: “I'm absolutely delighted. He has a lot of jobs in life, including in the stalls and he's a regular lead horse.

"He doesn't win very often, which is probably partly down to me, so I couldn't be more chuffed.”
